The Domestic Violence Center of Howard County could not operate without the generosity of community organizations, businesses and members, like YOU! There are many ways you can give back to the DVC by making a contribution to directly support our client services, donating an item from our wishlist, volunteering, or using one of our third party giving vehicles.
FAQs about Donations
When can I drop off items at the DVC?
We prefer if you would make an appointment to drop off items listed on our wishlist. Please email Volunteer Coordinator Diana Mitchell or call 410-997-0304 to make your appointment.
Do you accept clothing?
We don’t accept clothing donations, but we often refer our clients to the Christian Women’s Thrift Store of Ellicott City (410-465-1060) who are in need of clothing items.
How can I make a monetary donation to the DVC?
Donating to the DVC is easy! You can donate online using our Donate Now button, mail a check to our office (please make checks payable to Domestic Violence Center of Howard County), or call the Center and we can take your credit card information via telephone.
Can I get a tax receipt for my donations?
All donors can receive a tax receipt. If you are dropping off a donation item to the DVC, we will provide you with a Receipt Form. Financial donors will be mailed an acknowledgment letter, which includes our tax information.
What items do you currently need?
Please refer to our wishlist; you will also see items we are in urgent need of.
Do you accept cell phones?
Yes, we accept all (new, old, used) cell phones. Cell phones donated to the DVC become emergency 911 phones.
Older cell phones are contributed to our fundraising program sponsored by Shelter Alliance. Shelter Alliance has partnered with GRC Wireless Recycling which recycles the used cell phones and funds are given back to the benefit non-profit participants, like the DVC.
