The Domestic Violence Center of Howard County offers innovative and comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence. The Clinical Department invites applications for the position of Children's Program Coordinator. This is a full time position, 40 hours per week, with full benefits package and competitive salary.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of the Children's Program;
Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions for a caseload of 12-15 children;
Maintain documentation, client files, and submit weekly and monthly statistics as required by agency policies and funding sources;
Provide parents of clients with parenting resources;
Provide crisis intervention services for walk-ins and helpline callers;
Provide on-call coverage for Residential Department 3-4 weekends per year;
Manage Children's Program interns, including interviewing, orientation, and supervision;
Work with the Clinical Director to plan and facilitate staff retreats, workshops, in-services, etc.;
Schedule and attend all meetings with supervisor;
Attend all agency-wide staff meetings;
Serve as a member of a strategic planning committee and provide support for agency and departmental coworkers;
Coordinate programs and activities to meet client and agency needs;
Provide input for agency grant applications relating to the Children's Program.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Social Work or Psychology from an accredited college or university, or equivalent;
Licensure under Maryland's Department of Health & Mental Hygiene;
Experience providing direct clinical work, post licensure, in an appropriate treatment field (child abuse, victim counseling, and/or substance abuse) indicating full competency in clinical diagnostic assessment skills and individualized treatment plans;
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work activities;
Knowledge of clinical diagnostic methods and principles, various modalities of psychotherapy and counseling, and abnormal psychology;
Skill in use of crisis intervention techniques;
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local ordinances and policies regarding therapeutic issues;
Experience in preparing comprehensive documentation and statistics;
Basic computer skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
