What is sexual assault?

  • Unwanted sexual contact of any kind
  • Rape-sexual assault (intercourse)
  • Statutory rape
    • the sexual assault of a minor (under 16 years of age in Maryland) but someone four or more years older
  • Sexual Harassment
    • verbal or physical abuse that makes a person feel pressured into sexual activity.  This often occurs when a perpetrator establishes power and control over his/her victim
