Open Door is designed to provide information about all of the DVC in a confidential environment.  Topics discussed may include DVC services, education about the dynamics of abusive relationships, safety planning, and emotional support for female victims of domestic violence. There is no charge for Open Door and an RSVP is not required.

How do I become a client of the DVC?
To become a client with the DVC, an individual can call the DVC to speak with the Client Services Coordinator to begin the counseling process.

The Client Services Coordinator will:

  • Gather basic background information
  • Provide information about our services
  • Suggest attending our Open Door group counseling session
  • After attending Open Door group a therapist will be matched to your case
  • The therapist will call you to set up an initial intake appointment to start your counseling program

What can I expect from counseling?
The DVC counseling program is designed to empower individuals through client-driven treatment; this means the client and the clinician develop individualized treatment plans which contain goals for their treatment. These goals provide a “road map” for counseling while goals are worked on at the client’s pace and comfort level. Like all DVC services, counseling is protected by client/therapist confidentiality.

How much is counseling?
All counseling services are set on a sliding scale fee, based on income.  We will not turn anyone away because of the inability to pay.
