The Domestic Violence Center provides free prevention education and awareness programs in Howard County that are appropriate for middle and high school students, faculty and staff, hospital staff, PTAs, faith communities, youth groups, human resources, law-enforcement, and other community groups. Program offerings include—
FOR ADULTS:
- Recognizing & Preventing Sexual Violence – This introduction explores the dynamics of sexual violence and its prevention
- When Someone You Know Hurts You: Recognizing Intimate Partner Violence -Learn about Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) also known as domestic violence, partner abuse, spouse abuse, relationship abuse, dating violence or battering.
- Living with Violence: Effects on Children/Teens – Learn the warning signs for children who witness violence at home
- Healthy/Unhealthy Relationships – Explore and discuss the dynamics of a healthy versus an unhealthy relationship
- Recognizing Dating Violence -Learn how dating violence affects t’weens and teens
- Domestic Violence in the Workplace – An introduction to IPV for management and/or staff to learn what do to if a co-worker is in an abusive relationship
- Domestic Violence Red Flags for Hospital & Medical Personnel -Learn to recognize signs of relationship violence

THE DISCOVERY WORKSHOPS: Explore, Express, Empower
The Discovery Workshops are a vehicle for individuals who are not in crisis to explore issues for personal growth. Offered quarterly, each Discovery Workshop will focus on a specific topic such as examining mother/daughter relationships, dating as a senior citizen, or healing for the healers.
Through creative activities – writing, art, music - as well as sharing with others, you will discover inner strength, process feelings and move towards transformation.
